Job Purpose
Glacier FarmMedia (“GFM”) is a dynamic company in the Canadian agriculture industry that connects with farmers through a variety of regional and specialty media franchises, a listings marketplace for the sale of farm equipment, leading industry events like Ag in Motion and Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show and customized offerings for Weather and Market analysis and insights.
As a Graphic Designer at GFM, you will play a key role in shaping the visual identity of our print publications and digital platforms. This role is an individual contributor position within a cross-functional team, responsible for producing visually engaging designs that uphold the highest standards of creativity and professionalism across various media formats.
Duties and responsibilities
- Design and layout print publications, including magazines, newspapers, guides, and promotional materials, adhering to brand guidelines and publication standards.
- Create ads as required.
- Create eye-catching graphics, illustrations, and infographics to enhance editorial content and engage readers.
- Collaborate with editors, writers, advertising coordinators, production coordinators, sales team and management to conceptualize and execute visually compelling layouts and graphics that enhance editorial content and engage readers.
- Produce digital assets for online publications, websites, email newsletters, and social media platforms, optimizing designs for various digital formats and devices.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and design best practices to continuously elevate the quality and effectiveness of our visual communications.
- Embrace and adapt to new technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field.
- Proven experience in graphic design, preferably in publishing or related industries.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other design software in a Mac environment. With advanced knowledge of typography, layout, color theory, and composition.
- Strong portfolio showcasing creative and professional design work.
- Knowledge of printing processes and specifications, with the ability to prepare print-ready files.
- Understanding of digital design principles and experience creating graphics for web and social media platforms.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a passion for precision and craftsmanship.
- Self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
